Pet Policy at Longmont Property Groups
Because life is just better with a furry friend (or two).
At Longmont Property Group, we know pets are family — and we do our best to make room for yours! Our pet policy is designed to keep things safe, simple, and welcoming for both pet lovers and our property owners.
Here's the deal on pets:
- Most of our homes are pet-friendly (yay!) and allow up to 2 pets per household.
- Every applicant — pet or no pet — must complete a PetScreening profile at lpg.petscreening.com.
- Once approved, the pet rent is $35/month per household, regardless of how many pets you have. Yep, even if you’ve got two cats and a golden retriever — it’s still just $35.
What kinds of pets are allowed?
We're cool with most pets, but here are a few rules:
- No dogs with a history of biting or aggression. Safety comes first.
- No ferrets, snakes, birds, rodents, or uncaged reptiles/amphibians. Sorry — we love them, but not in rentals.
While Colorado law (HB23-1068) limits breed-specific insurance exclusions, owners still have the right to enforce restrictions for safety and property protection.
What about emotional support or service animals?
- Assistance animals are not considered pets, and are exempt from pet fees and restrictions.
- Heads up: Misrepresenting a pet as an ESA is a criminal offense in Colorado.
A quick note on evictions & animal safety:
In the event of an eviction, our team is legally required to check for animals. If you’re not present, we’ll work with animal control to ensure pets are safe and not left behind. Please don’t ever leave pets unattended during this process — their safety is our priority.
